Buying your Sex Toys at Walmart?
LiveScience also posted and article just yesterday saying that half of all Americans use vibrators. And why not, I say? There are studies linking a healthy sex life with people having less stress, more intimate relationships and as the article points out, possibly even better health! ("In fact, female vibrator users were significantly more likely to have had a gynecological exam during the past year and to have performed genital self-examination during the previous month.")
Now I am not saying that you can't have a perfectly amazing sex life without the use of vibrators. Of course you can! BUT, like chocolate syrup on ice cream (as well as whipped topping, nuts and a cherry!), sometimes it's nice to change things a bit. And, sometimes it's even necessary. As we learn more about the body and mind, we are finding out just how different men and women's arousal and orgasms are. What's easily achieved by one person, may not be for another. That doesn't make one person more 'normal' than another any more than the fact that I struggle with dieting and my aunt struggles with trying to GAIN weight.
So whether you're trying to add a little spice to the bedroom or just explore how things can feel differently with arousal creams, toys and other bedroom accessories, Pure Romance is a great way to do that. Can you imagine asking the teenage kid in Walmart what a good choice for a vibrator might be? What about lubes...is this one more slippery or will this one for someone more sensitive? Women can get their girlfriends together to play games, sample edible products, and view all the different types of toys with a professional, educated consultant. It's a fun, comfortable way to just see what all the buzz is about ;)

Pure Romance in the New York Times!
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/28/fashion/28generationb.html
"The researchers attribute the widespread use to easier availability and a cultural shift away from the bad ol’ boy, Triple-X-rated sex toy industry. Vibrators are now sold at Wal-Mart, 7-Eleven and CVS"
Pure Romance Parties are much more fun (and private!) than buying your toys at Wal-Mart! ;) Call me to book a party or get help selecting a high-quality product!

Direct Sales Jobs Like Pure Romance are Recession Proof
So why Pure Romance versus the other companies out there? Here are my personal reasons:
1. I believe in the products. I could not possibly encourage someone to buy a product that I did not believe was a quality product. And a lot of people don't realize what high quality beauty products we sell, not just bedroom accessories. I absolutely love our line of massage and moisturizing products. And the products are more budget-friendly than a lot of other brands.
2. I believe in the company. I don't know how many people can work in this industry and say that they've personally met and casually visited with the owner and founder of their business. Not only that, but that they completely respect them and what they've built. Patty Brisben, her family, the people working in the corporate office, my fellow consultants - it's like a second family. It is unlike anything I've experienced in the corporate world.
3. I love how Pure Romance is about educating and empowering women. Don't get me wrong, we do a fun, classy party - but when that party is over, did you learn anything? Did you get at least one thing from it that will help you know yourself better and/or your partner better? We joke around a lot at parties, play games and do a great deal of laughing, but we also do a lot of teaching both during the party and privately afterwards.
There are a number of stores out there where you can buy adult products, yes, but they can be embarrassing and overwhelming. Having them brought to your home and their benefits and how to use them explained to you in a comfortable atmosphere goes a long way towards reaching out to women who may never have considered going into a store.
There isn't any make-up, cooking tool or bowl that is going to help a marriage. There are a hundred stores I can buy some version of those products in too - sometimes even cheaper online. What we offer is unique and the way we do it is what sets us apart from others like us.

Tools for Improving Your Sexual Health: Information about Bedroom Accessories
Information about Bedroom Accessories
©2008 Pure Romance Inc. 161 Commerce Blvd. Loveland, OH 45140 1-866-Romance http://www.pureromance.com/
What is a bedroom accessory?
A bedroom accessory is a vibrator or dildo that provides stimulation to various areas of a woman’s body, including the clitoris, the vagina, the g-spot, and the anus. They are used to increase sexual pleasure, as well as aid in a woman’s sexual health by allowing her to explore her body.
Who should use a bedroom accessory?
Any woman who is interested in increasing her sexual pleasure or experimenting with new forms of stimulation can use a bedroom accessory. Sometimes, a woman’s health care provider will suggest that she use a bedroom accessory to help her meet her sexual health needs.
How do you use a bedroom accessory?
A bedroom accessory is used to stimulate the clitoris, vagina, g-spot, and/or the anus by providing pleasurable sensations. How a bedroom accessory is used will depend on the area of the body that it was designed to stimulate.
Not all types of stimulation are right for all women. It is important that women explore their bodies and determine what type of stimulation is best for them. Exploration should continue
throughout a woman’s life, because pleasures can change over time and as women age.
Pure Romance has created a full line of bedroom accessories for women. Please visit our Web
site, or talk to your Pure Romance Consultant, to find the right product for you.

Joy of Sex is Revised
MSN had a link this morning on their homepage that ‘Joy of Sex’ has finally been updated. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28589259/?GT1=43001 Thank goodness! While I doubt that there will be too many people pick up this book with the hairy man throughout while choosing from the infinite possiblities out there now, if they did, I would hate for them to get outdated information such as pushing the concepts of not wearing condoms and orgies (a truly dangerous combination!) The book has been a staple for a lot of people for a lot of years. I believe that’s because it’s been around as long as anyone can remember and it’s title let’s you know exactly what to expect. Some of the books we carry at Pure Romance have more amusing names, such as Tickle His Pickle, Tickle Her Fancy and Ride ‘em Cowgirl http://ww2.pureromance.com/PublicStore/catalog/Books,148.aspx, some really aren’t sure how to take that. However, I prefer these books by far because of the humor of the author’s writing and cartoon characters rather than real people. It’s more light-hearted to me and less ‘clinical’, plus my husband is much more likely to read it with me when it’s funny too. Sex, in my opinion, should always be fun and funny, not taken too seriously. However, books like Joy of Sex certainly have their place when they are providing good information that can both help inform it’s readers and shake things up in the bedroom with new ideas.
And if you really want the end all book to answer all of the questions you’ve ever had about sex, your sex drive, orgasms, spicing things up in the bedroom and more, you need to consider Patty Brisben’s Between the Sheets. Who else than this wonderful woman who has heard it all - every question imaginable - and had teams of experts at her disposal to answer those intimate questions? She’s put it all in this book and there isn’t a single person out there who couldn’t learn from it. The first step to a great sex life is knowledge. Below is a description of the book. And if you’d like to purchase any of these books, email me directly for a 10% discount at pamloveland@pureromance.com.

Why some women struggle with orgasms.
Believe it or not, having an orgasm can take practice. (Ah, darn, right?) It’s not something that someone can simply say, “Do this and it will absolutely happen.” While there are some tips that we can give one another about what works for us, it’s an entirely individual feeling and path to getting there. People vary so widely in what gives them sexual pleasure that there is no ‘normal’ or ‘right’ way to do things. If you think so, you are sadly limiting your experiences.
There’s only one way to explore what feels good to you - simply by doing it! Take some time either alone or with your partner and experiment with all the areas of your body. Try a vibrator and place it in different areas of your genital region to experience the different sensations you get. The clitoris has legs - 3 inches on either side of your vaginal opening - basically like a wrap-around porch! For some women, the exposed area of the clitoris just above her urethra opening is too sensitive to stimulate directly so placing a steady vibration to the side of it or on the ‘legs’ can be more comfortable.
For some women, the strong feelings that can accompany the onset of an orgasm can be overwhelming. The ‘loss of control’ can cause them to be anxious and lose the feelings. Try to remember to relax and enjoy the moment. Experimenting alone can help you feel more comfortable with letting yourself go without having to worry about a partner’s reaction or whether you’re ‘getting there fast enough’. Sometimes we feel pressured to ‘hurry up’ as he is doing his best to prolong his own orgasm. This much thinking going on is never a good thing during sex :) Orgasms definitely are an excellent end result, but getting there is half the fun! Being in the moment is the best way to actually get the result you want.
There are certainly ways to help things along a little as well. As I mentioned earlier, using a vibrator is the most common means of adding that steady sensation that is often necessary for many of us. The great thing about vibrators are there are so many different kinds and speeds. Clitoral vibes are just that…used strictly for clitoral stimulation either alone or with a partner. You hold it in your hand and place it in those spots you found that you liked that we talked about or for extra fun, let your partner find the spots with you! It’s very erotic to give someone pleasure and watch them while you do so. There are also G-spot vibes and dual action vibrators. Dual action are those that have a shaft as well as a clitoral vibrator and G-spot is of course for the G-spot.
Now the G-spot is a whole other thing that I’ll talk more about later. I hear all the time at parties that women want to find their G-spots and have a G-spot orgasm. It’s become so talked about that women are now feeling pressure to have these supposedly bigger, better orgasms! First of all, if you’re reading this and already having any trouble having a clitoral orgasm, don’t jump into the deep end of the pool just yet. The G-spot is, in my opinion, highly overrated. I don’t say this because it’s my personal experience, I say this because what the heck is wrong with the clitoral orgasm?! Also, for some women, stimulating the G-spot is NOT pleasurable and for some, the orgasm they finally may get from it is not that different or necessarily better than any others they’ve had. Again, everyone is entirely different….in a BIG way. But, while it certainly should be on the map of points of exploration, don’t make it the Holy Grail. I will talk more about finding your G-spot in a later post, though. (I promise not to take so long to write again!)
Another fantastic bedroom ‘accessory’ are heighteners. I talked about these before in my libido post, but they truly can change the whole game! You know how you might see a bowl of vanilla ice cream and you think, “Mmm…that looks good.” Then someone adds cookie dough to it and syrup and whipped cream and….well you get the idea. It’s a whole other dessert now, right? That’s what heighteners do. Suddenly that ice cream is irresistable! And you don’t want just one scoop…you want two and three, maybe even four scoups!
I got a little carried away there…but I really am fond of my Xscream ;-) We carry a book called ‘Tickle Her Fancy’ that is an excellent resource for women to learn more about herself, how her body works, about using toys for the first time, how to introduce them to the bedroom and more. And of course I am always happy to speak with you about any questions you have and make recommendations. Email me at pamloveland@pureromance.com or call/text 919-949-5208.

Always a Hot Topic at Pure Romance Parties - Libido
One of the most talked about topics at parties is loss of sexual desire, or libido. Changes in a person’s sex drive is common and natural. There are many things that influence our bodies and desires, so it’s not uncommon that sexual intimacy would rise and fall as those changes occur. It’s also a very personal subject because for some people and couples, a less frequent sex life works for them and they are comfortable with it. Issues may arise when there isn’t a match, or even a middle ground, between levels of desire between couples. That’s going to happen from time-to-time throughout a relationship, but if one person has an ongoing feeling of their need for that physical intimacy not being met, it can strain that relationship. And it’s not always the women who have a lower sex drive than the men. Men have a lot more expected of them these days than they did in the previous generation which can sometimes cause stress, exhaustion and a lessening of their libido as well.
- Approximately 33% of women between 18-59 years of age reported a loss of sexual desire for at least a few months over the last year. (JAMA, 1999)
- Approximately 20% of women reported a lack of vaginal lubrication during sexual stimulation. (JAMA, 1999)
- In a survey of 1,328 women ages 40 and older, 45% of women surveyed use intimcacy enhancing products for added stimulation. (Frankel, 2005)
Here is a link to moreinformation about the subject, things to do that could help and additional resources.

Why I Love Pure Romance
I decided I wanted to be a Consultant for the same reason a lot of us do - I had been to a couple of parties, loved the products and when my sponsor talked about doing the parties whenever I had the time, it sounded like the perfect way to get a little wiggle room back into our budget. Now I’m definately not the type to stand in front of a group of people to do any sort of talk or presentation, and I had never ’sold’ anything before in my life. I’m the girl you see at a party clinging to her best friend or husband at a loss on how to start a conversation. I’m really not great with small talk. I am, though, the type of woman who will try new things and who wants to give her family as much as she can. So, in the beginning, I did it for them. We had a new baby and a new house to accommodate our growing family so there was often more month than money.
I got my kit and began watching the DVD showing example parties right away. I studied the cue cards included in the kit and the sexual health information every day. Then I did my first party for my girlfriends at my house - who else better to laugh with when I couldn’t remember which product was licked and which you did NOT taste! They’d forgive me :) We had a great time and I made my first profit that night. I was hooked. Once I started the party, it was just so much more comfortable than I thought it would be. I simply used the cue cards to explain the products. I did that for a long time until I got comfortable doing the demo without them.
But the money is not why I love Pure Romance. I didn’t realize when I started how much it would change my life and how much we can help the women we come in contact with. I’ve gained friendships, self-confidence, pride in owning my own successful business and I’m privileged to have women share their most intimate questions with me.
I’ve had many women, sometimes much older and sometimes much younger than me, tell me how they learned things about themselves and their intimate relationships they’d never known before. Often they talk about how comfortable it was being there with the other women and watching the demo, not at all what they expected. Then I get more intimate stories - personal stories that make my heart go out to these women.
I had a customer come to me once in the private ordering room wanting to know what she could do to help her feel close to her husband again. She had been on a cruise, a vacation where her and her husband were going to renew their wedding vows, when she learned of his infidelity and child from that relationship. She was disparately trying to work things out with this man, but couldn’t get the desire back for him that they both wished for. Obviously this is something they needed to talk to a professional about as well, but I was able to offer some suggestions to help them begin to work on their relationship. Another woman was new to parties and our products but was excited to try the couple she had chosen for her and her husband. She told me the next day that one of them didn’t work as they’d expected (common because it sometimes takes a little experimenting to find the right amounts of things that work for each individual - but the trying is part of the fun :)) but they’d had the most fun they’d had in a long time. They had talked and laughed and really enjoyed each other in a new way. Another woman came to me with the concern that she was unable to physically feel things the way she used to before she’d had treatments for cancer. She was a survivor who had never been comfortable addressing the sexual issues that she was experiencing with her doctor. This is common and the reason we have the Sensuality, Sexuality and Survival Program. We carry a line of products that are meant to help women get that part of their lives back but are made with their special needs in mind.
I could talk a long time about experiences I’ve had since becoming a Consultant as could any of the other Consultants. Just like most of us got into Pure Romance for the money, to get time with other women, to get out of the house, or because they loved the products, all of us found much more waiting for us at our parties. We are honored with being trusted with women’s most intimate questions and helping strengthen or rebuild relationships with themselves and their partners.

Back from Cincinnati with Energy..Oh and New Toys ;)
Some of you may know I’m a small town girl too, from Dodge City, Kansas, and I’ve not been too many places (yet…PR is changing that!) So going to Cincinnati was a blast. We went to the Reds game and I had probably the best chili dog I’ve ever had in my life (Nathan’s - they put cocoa in it??? Chocolate in anything is a good thing to me!) We spent some time shopping and walking around downtown then one of the nights at the Cadillac Ranch. It’s been a LONG time since I went out dancing until 2:00 in the morning, then of course a food run afterwards :) 6 am to get ready for our next classes was rough! But the next morning we were listening to Brian Biro and you couldn’t help but get energized (and cry!) The best part was the ‘board breaking’ where we put whatever it was that holds us back from being the best we could be on one side of a board then all of the things we would be rewarded with if we just pushed past that on the other then broke it! I told my friends “I don’t cry…I WON’T cry!” I cried. LOL!
And the new products. I LOVE when we get new products! It’s like waiting for Christmas to see what they’ll come up with next. I’ve come home with things like ‘H.O.G’ (Hand Operated Girlfriend - it’s actually very pretty, ladies!), Purple Hooter, Tag Team, Microbullet, Buzz and more! Of course I had to buy an extra too…one for me, one for you, one for me…hehe. Product testing, c’mon! My husband is such a giver - it’s hard being a Pure Romance Consultant’s spouse
So here we go - I’m pumped and ready to go rock some parties and change some women’s lives by giving them the opportunity to experience what I’m feeling now! I’m feeling the WOO!

What do Pure Romance Consultants make and other questions.
I sometimes do games at my parties where everyone gets a chance to ask me questions about my job to win prizes. It’s a great chance for people who might be a little reserved about asking me privately to ask their questions in a more fun way and even get something for it. Plus there are always questions one person might ask that you didn’t think of. Here is some of the most common questions:
1. How often do you do parties?
It depends. I work full-time and have been going to college the last two years, not counting having 3 kids, so what is going on with those other things dictates how often I do parties. I believe in family first, so if I’m getting too busy to spend time with them, I cut back. I only booked two parties in July for that reason - I needed the break and family time. That’s the great thing about it, it’s your business so you run it as you want.
2. What does your husband/kids think?
My husband has always been supportive of whatever I wanted to do, so that wasn’t an issue for me. In fact, he’s an entrepreneur himself, so he is the one who inspired me to try having my own business. We listen to motivational tapes together and he helps clean my products after a party. Two of my kids are older, 16 and 12. We’re a very open family so they are fully aware of what I do, but it’s not ‘in their face’. They will help sometimes with things like putting labels on the back of catalogs. It’s actually helped our relationships a great deal! My 16 year old daughter talks openly with me about questions she has and doesn’t have some of the common, even dangerous, misconceptions about her body and sex that some of her friends do who are afraid to talk to their parents.
3. How much do you make?
Ah, this is the question everyone wants to know but are too polite to ask :) I don’t mind talking about it - I’m proud of the income I’ve been able to contribute to the family income! My commissions at this point are 40%, but that doesn’t count the things you learn to maximize profits, daily sales, free products, case sales and more. I probably make closer to 50% commissions buy buying smart. Below is a copy of what my retail sales are to date. So on average I make almost $1000/mo doing 4-6 parties a month, taking into consideration that some months it’s more and some months less, like when I took off in July. It’s hard to say what someone will make because the more you learn about the products, get comfortable doing parties and so forth, the more you can make. There are even regional differences in the average party sales depending on where you are in the state or country. Sometimes you’ll have a party where you make $50 that night and other times it is $400.
4. What kind of training and support do you get?
Whomever you sign up under is your sponsor, or mentor. That person gives you everything you need to get started then makes herself available to you as you progress to help you with any questions you may have. We have a lot of meeting and training opportunities as well. As you can see from my image above, there is a lot of information on the website and in 2009, there will even be online training, videos and more so you can take their Pure Romance University online, or in person. We have local meetings, weekly conference calls, regional market trainings, annual trainings…you get the idea :) I can’t think of any other business that you can get into so cheaply and with this much training. Plus we’re all a team - we help each other rather than competing with ideas, exchanging products if we need something, support and more.
5. I don’t think I could do that - talk in front of people about those products!
I don’t even know you and I can safely say, “Yes you can.” I have never had my own business and had never spoken in front of people (frankly, it scared me to death!) before doing Pure Romance. When I got my kit, I watched the video with our top consultants’ presentations, watched the sexual health DVD, read all the cue cards about the products (you get CUE cards!) and did my first party for some friends as practice. Don’t get me wrong, it took a few before I started feeling comfortable and I still get nervous sometimes, but all I have to do is show the ladies what the products are for and chat with them. Not hard at all - fun, in fact! You’re not coming up with anything on your own, just explaining what goes where and why. A lot of us just go through the book from front to back or use cue cards too. Plus your sponsor is happy to be there for your first party to make you feel more comfortable.
I hope that helps answer some of the questions you may have. I know there might be more, but that’s some of the most common questions I hear. There’s a lot more info on my website at www.pureromancebypam.com/consultant and you may also email me at pamloveland@pureromance.com.
Don’t forget the kits are at a huge discount this month - the best sale we’ve seen in a long while. They are 75% off retail! So the kit with $500 in products is on sale for $125! There are three kits to choose from. Visit my site for more details.
