Breast Cancer Awareness and Pure Romance
As I'm sure you are aware, this month is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. There aren't many of us that have not been touched by this disease in some way. Please take this time to think about how you can take care of yourself, do your self-checks and get your mammograms. If you know of someone who is not doing so, encourage them. As women, we put often ourselves last on the 'to-do' list, but if we are not well, how can we take care of those we love? Sexuality, Sensuality and Survival
"In 2006, Patty and Chris asked our research team at Indiana University to find out more about the sexual health needs and concerns of young breast cancer survivors. After all, they are a neglected group even though a growing number of women under age 50 are diagnosed with breast cancer. With improved treatment options, more women survive breast cancer - which means they need help after treatment so that they can have the opportunity for a high quality of life." (Dr. Debbie Herbenick, a research scientist at the Center for Sexual Health Promotion and a Sexual Health Educator at the Kinsey Institute. www.mysexprofessor.com)
Information was collected from 115 young survivors of breast cancer about what types of problems with their sexual lives they were having and if they would be interested in sexual enhancement products that could possibly help. They overwhelmingly responded that YES, they were interested in learning more about these products, lubricants, vibrators and massage products in particular. Their main concern was difficulty with sexual desire, arousal, interest, vaginal dryiness genital pain and orgasm. The products they showed the most interest in could help with those things. In addition, some needed special products that were unflavored and unscented due to their sensitivity from treatments.
Not only has Patty, the owner of Pure Romance, addressed these women's needs, she created an entire program dedicated to helping those women who have been diagnosed with cancer recapture their sensuality. Direct Sales Jobs Like Pure Romance are Recession Proof
USA Today just did an article talking about how direct sales jobs are helping many people through difficult times. (http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/retail/2009-05-13-direct-sales-jobs-recession-unemployment_N.htm) I can personally attest to that fact. I began doing Pure Romance to help out with our own family's finances because I was tired of worrying about every little thing that came up unexpectedly. When you have kids, things WILL come up. We had just bought a home because we'd also just had a new baby 9 months before and we desparately needed more room. We also have two teenagers, one of whom needed braces and the other was almost driving at that time. Pure Romance has saved us on more than one occassion from being in a real financial bind. And the best thing is that no matter what happens with the economy or my full-time job, I have Pure Romance as my net.
So why Pure Romance versus the other companies out there? Here are my personal reasons:
1. I believe in the products. I could not possibly encourage someone to buy a product that I did not believe was a quality product. And a lot of people don't realize what high quality beauty products we sell, not just bedroom accessories. I absolutely love our line of massage and moisturizing products. And the products are more budget-friendly than a lot of other brands.
2. I believe in the company. I don't know how many people can work in this industry and say that they've personally met and casually visited with the owner and founder of their business. Not only that, but that they completely respect them and what they've built. Patty Brisben, her family, the people working in the corporate office, my fellow consultants - it's like a second family. It is unlike anything I've experienced in the corporate world.
3. I love how Pure Romance is about educating and empowering women. Don't get me wrong, we do a fun, classy party - but when that party is over, did you learn anything? Did you get at least one thing from it that will help you know yourself better and/or your partner better? We joke around a lot at parties, play games and do a great deal of laughing, but we also do a lot of teaching both during the party and privately afterwards.
There are a number of stores out there where you can buy adult products, yes, but they can be embarrassing and overwhelming. Having them brought to your home and their benefits and how to use them explained to you in a comfortable atmosphere goes a long way towards reaching out to women who may never have considered going into a store.
There isn't any make-up, cooking tool or bowl that is going to help a marriage. There are a hundred stores I can buy some version of those products in too - sometimes even cheaper online. What we offer is unique and the way we do it is what sets us apart from others like us.

Pure Romance vs. Other Home Businesses
A question that we get asked about sometimes is how someone chooses between one party plan business or another. I love when someone asks me this because it shows me that they are serious about wanting to start a business and its success. They are already trying to learn more about their future business.
The first thing someone needs to ask themselves is why am I wanting to start this business and what to I expect to get out of it:
Do you want to go to women's home and do parties or would you prefer to just hand out catalogs and take orders? That will obviously make a difference on whether you should join a company like Avon or one like Pure Romance.
Are you wanting an opportunity for significant profits or just a little extra cash here and there? While it takes time and effort to build any business and to see those big profits many of us hope for, there are some companies where the numbers just aren't there. Sometimes it's the type of product and sometimes it's the percentage discount that is being offered.
So let's say that you know you'd like to do home parties. So, what type of parties have you been to and what really felt fun and interesting to you? What products do you love, even if you haven't been to their party? You HAVE to pick a business you believe in with products you love yourself. You simply can not be genuine and truthful if you are pushing products just to make a profit. Your customers deserve better than that. If the idea of heighteners, lubricants and vibrators make you uncomfortable, perhaps an adult party plan is not the best idea. I'm not talking about the idea of TALKING about them making you shiver - because most of us felt that way in the beginning! Public speaking is something you have to learn - and the only way you can learn it, is by doing it. Trust me, anyone can...I have, and it's made such a difference in my life!
You've narrowed it down to adult party plans. Great profits, lots of fun, doesn't take much time and the products are always in demand. So now what? Pure Romance, Passion Parties, Slumber Parties, Brown Bag - the list goes on and on. Here are some things to research:
What is the discount (ie: profit) percentage? Pure Romance's discounts are from 35% - 60%. Your percentage goes up as other consultants sign under you, going up to 40% after just one joins. It is not based on the size of kit you buy like some party plans.
How successful is the company? Pure Romance has been specializing in relationship enhancement products for 15 years and is a leading direct sales company for our product category. In 2007, there were at $80 million in sales and are growing at about 50% annually.
Are the products high quality? Pure Romance offers premium quality products, proven to be successful by doctors and therapists, at a cost often lower than our competitors. Products are added to on a regular basis to keep our businesses fresh.
What training is provided? Pure Romance is a leader in providing training to their Consultants. With a 6 hour PRU offered to new consultants (which will soon be online as well), quarterly market trainings, annual training, interactive sexuality training developed by the Kinsey Institute at Indiana State University, and more. Our local team also has a Yahoo board for local support, local meetings, parties and weekly conference calls. None of this includes the support and training you will receive from your Sponsor!
What type of advertising does the company do for you? Pure Romance has the most visible and highest percentage of corporate sponsored advertising nationally and locally.
Is there a personal website offered? Pure Romance Consultants get a free website with shopping cart capabilities.
What other incentives are offered? Pure Romance has daily sales, case discounts (an extra 5-10% off products), you can earn free products monthly ($25-150 per $1000 retail), quarterly contests, birthday and anniversary discounts, convention credits and more!
What minimum sales are required? Pure Romance requires that new consultants have $250 (retail) requirement within the first 60 days of buying their kit to become active. Most times new consultants can achieve that with friends and family orders easily. After that there are NO MINIMUMS. As long as you place any order, no matter how small, every 60 days or someone places an order on your website, you will remain active.
What is the company image? Pure Romance prides itself on its professional, classy image and the education we provide women. Their philosophy is: To promote the enjoyment and education of sensuality with respect, courtesy and confidentiality, by providing safe, effective and high-quality romance enhancing products that help women and couples lead more fulfilling and romantically enriched lives.
