Pure Romance vs. Other Home Businesses

A question that we get asked about sometimes is how someone chooses between one party plan business or another. I love when someone asks me this because it shows me that they are serious about wanting to start a business and its success. They are already trying to learn more about their future business.

The first thing someone needs to ask themselves is why am I wanting to start this business and what to I expect to get out of it:

Do you want to go to women's home and do parties or would you prefer to just hand out catalogs and take orders? That will obviously make a difference on whether you should join a company like Avon or one like Pure Romance.

Are you wanting an opportunity for significant profits or just a little extra cash here and there? While it takes time and effort to build any business and to see those big profits many of us hope for, there are some companies where the numbers just aren't there. Sometimes it's the type of product and sometimes it's the percentage discount that is being offered.

So let's say that you know you'd like to do home parties. So, what type of parties have you been to and what really felt fun and interesting to you? What products do you love, even if you haven't been to their party? You HAVE to pick a business you believe in with products you love yourself. You simply can not be genuine and truthful if you are pushing products just to make a profit. Your customers deserve better than that. If the idea of heighteners, lubricants and vibrators make you uncomfortable, perhaps an adult party plan is not the best idea. I'm not talking about the idea of TALKING about them making you shiver - because most of us felt that way in the beginning! Public speaking is something you have to learn - and the only way you can learn it, is by doing it. Trust me, anyone can...I have, and it's made such a difference in my life!

You've narrowed it down to adult party plans. Great profits, lots of fun, doesn't take much time and the products are always in demand. So now what? Pure Romance, Passion Parties, Slumber Parties, Brown Bag - the list goes on and on. Here are some things to research:

What is the discount (ie: profit) percentage? Pure Romance's discounts are from 35% - 60%. Your percentage goes up as other consultants sign under you, going up to 40% after just one joins. It is not based on the size of kit you buy like some party plans.

How successful is the company? Pure Romance has been specializing in relationship enhancement products for 15 years and is a leading direct sales company for our product category. In 2007, there were at $80 million in sales and are growing at about 50% annually.

Are the products high quality? Pure Romance offers premium quality products, proven to be successful by doctors and therapists, at a cost often lower than our competitors. Products are added to on a regular basis to keep our businesses fresh.
What training is provided? Pure Romance is a leader in providing training to their Consultants. With a 6 hour PRU offered to new consultants (which will soon be online as well), quarterly market trainings, annual training, interactive sexuality training developed by the Kinsey Institute at Indiana State University, and more. Our local team also has a Yahoo board for local support, local meetings, parties and weekly conference calls. None of this includes the support and training you will receive from your Sponsor!

What type of advertising does the company do for you? Pure Romance has the most visible and highest percentage of corporate sponsored advertising nationally and locally.

Is there a personal website offered? Pure Romance Consultants get a free website with shopping cart capabilities.

What other incentives are offered? Pure Romance has daily sales, case discounts (an extra 5-10% off products), you can earn free products monthly ($25-150 per $1000 retail), quarterly contests, birthday and anniversary discounts, convention credits and more!

What minimum sales are required? Pure Romance requires that new consultants have $250 (retail) requirement within the first 60 days of buying their kit to become active. Most times new consultants can achieve that with friends and family orders easily. After that there are NO MINIMUMS. As long as you place any order, no matter how small, every 60 days or someone places an order on your website, you will remain active.
