Mysterious Lubricants??

I admit, I’ve been intrigued with the new K-Y Yours and Mine Lubricants I’ve been seeing all over the place and have been asked about in parties. From my own experience, I’m not a big fan of KY, particularly since I found Pure Romance’s lubricants (little sticky, gelly-balls were just not appealing to me) but I’m curious as to this ‘reaction’ they are talking about when the two lubes mix.

I picked a package up in the drugstore the other day and read on it to see if it explained a bit more just what it does. Nope. Just adjectives all over the place like ‘invigorating’, ‘thrilling’ and ‘exciting’ sensations. I’m all for a little experimenting with products in the bedroom, but I have to say that I like to know a little bit about what I’m putting in my ‘most sensitive areas’ first. According to an article I found on the LA Times Website, Liz Cermak of Johnson & Johnson, they will “not divulge the active chemicals that go into the products nor the atomic events that occur when the two mix together”. Huh?! If you can’t tell me the ingredients in your product or what to expect, there is no way I’m getting it near my best girlfriend! I’m sure they’ve tested it and all, that it’s perfectly safe and probably feels great to some people, but I just would prefer to keep the secret chemistry experiment out of my pants. There might be an ingredient in it I’ve not reacted to well in the past. (And my mouth! What if it gets in your mouth? Is it safe? Maybe it says that in the directions inside the box. You’ve got to consider that though.) I do think, though, that the concept behind it that it creates communication between partners and helps break the routine is great.

There is a reason that Pure Romance carries a variety of lubricants, lists all of the ingredients and explains fully the differences in them at parties. We want women and men to get the appropriate product to get the best experience alone, with a partner or with their toy. (I wonder what happens if you spread the guy’s K-Y on a toy?? Hmmm.) Some women are very sensitive and need something that is going to be effective without being irritating (Just Like Me is PH balanced and enhances your own lubrication). Others need something a little creamier to use with toys such as c-rings, that tastes delicious (like Whipped Strawberry Cheesecake!) and lasts longer. Or maybe you want something warming that is safe to lick (not to mention yummy like Sensations!) These are some of the things we talk about during the party as we try the products (on our arms people!) so everyone knows just what it will feel like. Then later in the ordering room we go over them again if there are questions about the best lubricant for their needs, whether they are safe for use with condoms and so forth.

I can not discuss lubricants without bringing up something very important - GUYS LISTEN UP! Sometimes men and women think that using a lubricant is ‘cheating’. Perhaps their partner isn’t ‘into it’, they aren’t ‘doing something right’ or whatever the case may be. Puhleez! This is the only reason I wish men could be at our parties - just to hear this: WOMEN ARE COMPLICATED! Seriously, did you not know this?! I know you do. It’s not just our emotions - everything about is complicated. There are so many factors that can influence our natural lubrication, you should be amazed if you don’t have to use a lubricant every time. Our period, pregnancy, having a baby, stress, medication such as for allergies, had a few drinks, age, menopause….on and on. It’s not about you, guys! We love you, you’re amazing, your the best we’ve ever had, etc., etc., etc. However, sometimes we just need a little help. Don’t make us feel bad about that. THAT is the quickest way to ruin the mood! Lubricants are our friend - they make sex comfortable and pleasurable for everyone involved, even if it’s just you ;)

Okay rant over. But if you’ve tried this K-Y stuff, leave a comment or email me. I’m seriously curious but too cheap to be in a hurry to spend $17 bucks to buy it when I have cases of lubes at home that I already know I love
